แสงสีแห่งฤดูหนาวที่ Sapporo White Illumination

When it comes to winter in Japan, many people might think of pure white snow, fluffy blankets of snow falling down and turning the city into a fairytale world. But for me, the highlight of my Sapporo trip was the Sapporo White Illumination festival, which warmed the cold night with its dazzling lights.

I started my walk from Odori Park, the festival's centerpiece. Along the hundreds of meters-long path, thousands of strings of lights adorn the trees, illuminated shapes, and intricately designed light sculptures. As I got closer, I felt like I was being enveloped in a fantasy world by the multicolored lights.

The surrounding area was filled with tourists, both Japanese and foreign. Many couples walked hand in hand, while others with children playing amidst the illuminations. I stopped to take photos at almost every corner, from the giant Christmas tree glowing golden, to the blue light trail that stretched like a sea of stars.

My favorite part was the atmosphere, which blended romance and excitement. Everyone was smiling, even in the near-zero temperatures, but it was incredibly heartwarming.

For those who want to visit, this festival is held annually from late November to February. (Dates may vary slightly each year.) And you can walk around Odori Park for free. This is another reason why Sapporo's winter is just as charming as the Snow Festival.

✨ If you have the chance to visit Hokkaido in winter, don't forget to take a stroll under the lights of the Sapporo White Illumination. It's guaranteed to be a romantic, warm, and beautiful evening you'll never forget.
