Discovering the Hidden Charms of Higashi-ku Shrine

A shrine situated in Higashi-ku, around a 20-minute stroll north from (Kita) Sapporo JR station. With a long history extending over 130 years, it was established by the Ueshima clan originating from Shinano. The shrine rests amid a residential area, so we found ourselves needing some directions to reach it. Renowned for blessings in marital harmony, matchmaking, safe childbirth, and child-bearing, the shrine was bustling with worshippers despite the pouring rain. Surrounding the perimeter, stalls were set up along with a short, umbrella-covered walkway. I'm unsure of the significance, yet it certainly looked stunning. Within the shrine, the flower water basin stands out, along with its famed flower-shaped amulets. We purchased them along with the shrine stamp. It continued to drizzle as we headed back to the hotel.
