Nanzoin Temple

Nanzoin Temple, a renowned temple in the Fukuoka area, might not be familiar to many Thai visitors. However, if you're traveling to Kyushu in Japan, this is a must-visit spot. The highlight here is the massive Reclining Buddha statue, the largest in Japan, measuring over 41 meters in length. Seeing it for the first time is truly awe-inspiring due to its grand scale. Yet, the temple doesn't exude an overly extravagant vibe like some tourist-heavy spots. Instead, it offers a serene and simple atmosphere, maintaining the essence of a traditional local temple.

The surroundings of the temple are filled with nature, including forests, mountains, and streams, making the walk up to the giant Buddha feel like a peaceful stroll through the woods. Photography enthusiasts will love the interplay of light and shadow filtering through the trees, creating a beautifully moody effect in photos. Besides the Reclining Buddha, there are other charming spots to explore, such as rows of stone statues, a small shrine, and a rope connecting to the Buddha statue, which allows devotees to directly connect with its spiritual energy.
