A Hundred Years of Retrospect: Roman Civilization in Turkey

“Ephesus Archaeological Site”
It is considered one of the most important ancient Roman sites located in present-day Turkey.
The site was built around the 10th century.

Ephesus is located in Selçuk, about 80 km from Izmir.

Entrance fee: 40 euros, which you can buy a ticket to enter directly.

Opening hours: Open daily from 08.00 - 17.30

Review:
- The entrance fee is quite expensive compared to other places in Turkey.
- Since Ephesus is an old place, the ancient sites and artifacts need to be maintained, so many times some areas are temporarily closed.
- The site is very large and the walkways are paved with bricks, so it may not be suitable for wheelchair users. Or very elderly people
- It is recommended to go in the afternoon or evening because the light is more beautiful.
- The places that should not be missed when visiting Ephesus are the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian, the Baths of Varius, the Hercules Gate and the Theater Gymnasium (which is closed for renovation in February 2025).
