🍡Sendai Morning Market is only five minutes away from the west exit of Sendai Station. You can see it by walking along the main road Minamimachi-dori. Although it is called a morning market, it is actually open from 8 am to 5 pm. There are fresh seafood and fruits and vegetables, as well as many delicious snacks. Under the hawking of vendors, experience the local flavor carefully!
🍡The first stop is "Hanagasa Dango Honpo", where the famous glutinous rice produced in Miyagi Prefecture is handmade. The strings of Japanese dumplings have a variety of flavors such as edamame, sesame and red beans, as well as various rice balls. Of course, you can't miss the various delicious edamame products when you come to Sendai! The dumplings were chewy and not sticky. One skewer was not very satisfying for each person, so we ordered a second round immediately.
🍡There are many seafood stalls in the market, just pick one that you like and start ordering. There are all kinds of fresh fish, shrimp and shellfish. The boss kindly asks whether you want them raw or simply grilled (the shrimps are only about 50% cooked when grilled, which only adds some aroma from the shrimp shells being roasted over high heat). Overall, the sashimi combination and oysters are also quite fresh, and the price is really affordable. If you don’t have enough, you can order more.
🍡The fruit and vegetable stalls are also a must-see part of Sendai Morning Market. Of course, you have to enjoy strawberries when you come to Japan in winter~ There are so many kinds of apples in Tohoku, and I want to try every one of them~
💰Per capita consumption: 500~2000 Yen
