Nishi Park is the most convenient cherry blossom viewing spot in Sendai City and is also the first park in Sendai. Because it is located near the Sendai Shopping Street business district, it is very convenient to walk or take the subway from Sendai Station, so it is always crowded during the cherry blossom season. Picnicing on the grass under the cherry trees is a leisure activity for locals.

There are about 200 cherry trees planted in Nishi Park, including Somei Yoshino cherry trees, Sato cherry trees, Edo Higan cherry trees, etc. The varieties and colors are quite rich, and the scenery is beautiful when they are in full bloom. Another highlight is the Northeast Hometown Cherry Blossom Avenue, where you can enjoy the amazing cherry blossoms from six counties in the Northeast.

Every year during the cherry blossom season, West Park sets up a cherry blossom viewing area. The main square is dotted with food stalls and snack stands, and the lights are on from sunset to 10 pm every day, so you can enjoy a night stroll while the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
