Jeju, South Korea, is home to two renowned artists: Lee Joong-seop and Lee Wa-jong. Lee Wa-jong has lived in Seogwipo for 30 years and remains prolific at 80. His paintings capture the rich natural beauty of Jeju Island—often called the "Hawaii of Korea"—and depict the balance of life with vibrant colors and a childlike innocence.

His paintings embody the Eastern philosophy of the Golden Mean, which lacks subject or object. This Golden Mean is based on the idea of ​​equality, acknowledging that all life forms, whether humans, fish, birds, flowers, or even humble microorganisms, are the center and essence of the universe. His gallery near Jeongbang Waterfall is also vibrantly colored, seemingly ordinary yet magical, like a Korean Gaudi.
