🇰🇷 Gwangjang Market, Seoul, Korea
"Sapjal Gwabaegi"
Twisted doughnuts that have people lining up
============
A popular gwabaegi shop with long queues at the North 2 entrance of Gwangjang Market (Gwangjangsijang/광장시장), located about a 3-minute walk from Jongno 5-ga Station on Subway Line 1 and about an 8-minute walk from Euljiro 4-ga Station on Subway Line 5.
This is a shop where you can eat freshly fried gwabaegi, and you can watch them being made while you wait in line. Gwabaegi is like a Japanese twisted doughnut.
・Glutinous rice kwabaegi 1,000w
・Black rice donut 1,000w
・Bean paste donut 1,500w
・Sweet potato bean paste donut 1,500w
Kwabaegi has a soft cinnamon flavor and is topped with sweet sugar, and its chewy texture is addictive.
I heard that there is a line at any time, so I went after 8pm on a weekday night and was able to buy one after waiting in line for about 20 minutes. I also recommend walking around the market while eating your way through the market. It's so delicious that it's worth the trouble of waiting in line.
