The Tranquility of Winter Alone at Gyeonghee Palace
Yesterday (February 18th) afternoon, I stepped into the wide courtyard of Gyeonghee Palace. As I walked on the snow-covered grass in front of Sungjeongjeon, the second palace of Joseon, I felt like I was walking in the footsteps of the king from 300 years ago. While reading the sign, the security guard told me, "There are traces of Heunghwamun Gate, which is under restoration at the end of the west wall." As a bonus, I discovered a stone from the 1890s revealed between the stone steps!

📌 Perfect point even alone

Hidden spot: Pine forest bench behind Sungjeongjeon → A great place to read a book in silence

Historical experience: Imagine the Joseon royal life inside the restored Sujeongjeon

Recommendation: Recharge your energy with Injeolmi Bingsu (8,500 won) at the entrance of Gyeonghuigung Palace 'Gungbingsu'

🚨 Notes

Closed on Tuesdays (Open from Wednesday to Monday 09:00~18:00)

No entry into the restoration area (security guards should be careful)

Be careful of slipping when the winter lawn is frozen

At 5 o'clock, the sunset poured down on the stone building ruins. I held up my phone camera with the golden Heunghwamun restoration site in the background, and the security guard smiled and said, "It's even prettier when it's open at night in the spring." Next time, I plan to visit and take pictures around the time the cherry blossoms bloom! 🌸
