The Value of Tradition Felt at Hyojagak and Hyojamun

This afternoon, I visited Hyojagak and Hyojamun and felt the depth of traditional culture. Built to honor filial piety during the Joseon Dynasty, this place has elegant architectural beauty and historical significance, making it even more special. In particular, I was able to recall the value of the time while reading the inscription engraved inside Hyojagak honoring filial piety.

📌 Points for solo travelers

Hidden spot: Small garden behind Hyojamun → A good place to take a quiet walk and reflect

Recommended experience: Read the epitaph carefully and reflect on the meaning of filial piety

Recommended snack: Warm jujube tea and yakgwa set sold at a nearby traditional teahouse (6,000 won)

🚨 Notes

Quiet viewing of the surrounding area is essential (Be courteous as it is a historical site)

Winter winds are strong, so it is recommended to wear warm clothes when visiting

Do not touch the facilities and maintain their state of preservation

At around 5 o'clock, I finished the day by taking pictures with the silhouette of Hyojamun in the background, bathed in the sunset. The phrase written on the signboard, "Filial piety is the root of all virtues," lingered deeply in my heart. I want to visit again in the spring when the flowers bloom in the garden. 🌸
