🐨 I only had one day — and Brisbane made it count
I came to Brisbane for work with zero expectations for sightseeing. But on my one free day, I decided to make the most of it — and somehow, this laid-back city gave me exactly what I needed.
My morning started at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, and the moment I saw a koala curled up in the trees, completely still, something just clicked. It was quiet, peaceful, and oddly comforting — a true “I’m in Australia” moment. 🐨 I didn’t rush. I just watched.
Later, I walked along the South Bank, where the river glowed under the afternoon light. Locals laughed on bikes, kids played in the splash zones, and the giant “BRISBANE” sign stood proudly against the skyline. The city felt alive but never overwhelming.
Before heading back, I dropped into the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). Bright planters, bold Indigenous art, and quirky installations filled the space — playful and powerful all at once. I didn’t expect to feel inspired on a business trip, but here I was, leaving with more than just meeting notes.
💡Tips if you only have 1 day:
- Go early to Lone Pine — fewer people, more koalas.
- South Bank is perfect for walking off a busy week.
- GOMA is free and full of color — don’t skip it.
