Visiting Ewha Womans University in Seoul was a delightful experience, blending historic elegance with modern architectural beauty. As I stepped onto the picturesque campus, I was immediately struck by the peaceful atmosphere and the stunning contrast between the lush greenery and contemporary buildings.
The highlight of my visit was the Ewha Campus Complex (ECC), a breathtaking underground structure designed by Dominique Perrault. Walking down the grand sloping entrance, flanked by tall glass walls, felt like stepping into a futuristic space seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape. The mix of academic facilities, cafés, and study areas created a lively yet serene ambiance.
Exploring the older sections of the campus, I admired the classic stone buildings covered in ivy, reminiscent of a European university. The chapel and main hall exuded timeless charm, standing as testaments to the university’s long history and significance in women’s education.
Beyond its architectural wonders, Ewha’s surroundings also added to the experience. The nearby Ewha Fashion Street was a haven for shopping, filled with trendy boutiques, cozy cafés, and street food stalls. Taking a break at a charming café, I enjoyed a warm cup of tea while soaking in the youthful and dynamic energy of the area.
With its unique fusion of tradition and innovation, Ewha Womans University was more than just an academic institution—it was a place of beauty, culture, and inspiration. Wandering through its scenic campus, I couldn’t help but admire how it perfectly reflected the progressive spirit of Seoul itself.
