Starfield Library: A Captivating Oasis in the Heart of Gangnam

A trip to Gangnam often includes a visit to Samseong Station, and on a recent visit, I was struck by the sheer number of people, including many foreigners, at Starfield Library. It was truly surprising to see so many visitors! Starfield Library, as its name suggests, is a library where you can comfortably read. For those interested in purchasing books, Youngpoong Bookstore is conveniently located nearby.
Location & Accessibility: Starfield Library is situated in Starfield COEX Mall B1, at 513 Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It's open daily from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM. The easiest way to get there is from Samseong Station, specifically from Exit 6 of Samseong Station (Line 2), which is approximately 274 meters away. While the COEX Mall can be a bit complex to navigate, if you enter through the Parnas Mall entrance and proceed straight, you'll find clear signs leading to Starfield Library. It's also incredibly close to the City Airport Terminal, just about a 100-meter walk underground.
A Unique and Welcoming Space: The biggest advantage of Starfield Library, making it a great spot for a Gangnam date, is that it's a free and open space accessible to everyone. Compared to other branches, I personally prefer the Starfield Library at Gangnam Samseong COEX due to its spacious design. While newer Starfield libraries might have a more vertical layout, the COEX Starfield Library's horizontal design creates a feeling of being expansively surrounded by books, which is truly wonderful.
More Than Just a Library: Starfield Library at COEX is widely recognized as a popular photo spot, and it's easy to see why. The space is filled with magnificent books, making it a fantastic backdrop for pictures. It's even considered a must-visit destination for foreign visitors. Beyond the library, Samseong Station's COEX offers numerous exhibitions, eateries, and cafes, making it an excellent destination for a Gangnam outing. There's also an aquarium and various exhibitions within COEX, so it's a good idea to check what's on before you go.
This place is particularly famous as a photo zone for foreigners, where you can hear a variety of languages. While I don't usually frequent Starfield Library when I visit COEX, on this recent visit, I finally understood why so many people are drawn to take photos here. The sight of towering bookshelves bathed in light streaming from above creates a truly bright and inspiring library atmosphere.
Additional Experiences: Interestingly, there are also programs available here where you can experience the famous Yangjae Flower Market, including flower market tours and flower arrangement classes. I highly recommend these experiential programs, especially for families with children.
Starfield Library is truly a captivating destination, offering not just a place to read but also a vibrant cultural hub perfect for exploring, taking stunning photos.
