Yeonnam-dong in Seoul has seen a surge in trendy cafes and artsy shops in recent years! This time, we were drawn to Parole & Langue by the viral buzz surrounding their famous corn tart. Knowing it’s a popular spot with queues, we arrived early to grab a ticket before they opened. The staff placed a ticket machine outside the door before opening time, and we managed to get the third ticket by arriving about 45 minutes prior to opening.
The neighborhood is serene and picturesque, with lush greenery and a peaceful park perfect for a stroll and some photos. As the opening time approached, we returned to the cafe. Once the doors opened, the staff called out ticket numbers to arrange seating. The cafe’s warm ambiance, complemented by its red brick exterior, made us feel right at home.
For our first visit, we naturally opted for their two most popular items: the Corn Tart 🌽 (₩8,800) and the Chestnut Tart 🌰 (₩9,500). Even before tasting, we were impressed by their exquisite presentation. Each tart came with a small card featuring a hand-drawn illustration and a description of its unique layers—mouthwatering at first glance! 😋
Both tarts lived up to the hype and were absolutely delicious! The tart crusts were fragrant and crispy, perfectly complementing the fillings. The corn tart had a light and refreshing flavor, while the chestnut tart was rich and aromatic. Together, they struck a perfect balance—not overly sweet. Typically, desserts with puff pastry and cream can feel heavy, but these were surprisingly light. We were tempted to order more but decided to save room for other restaurants on our itinerary.
If you ever visit Seoul, Parole & Langue is a must-try!
