Seoul｜The Adorable BUTTER SHOP Captivating Students with Its Cute Appeal

If it weren't for a kid asking me to buy some Milk Cat merchandise, I might never have discovered just how amazing this store is.

BUTTER SHOP opened its first store in Hongdae in 2014, and with its adorable Milk Cat and Butter Family merchandise, it quickly became a hit among students. Over the years, it has expanded to locations in Myeongdong and major department stores. With its cute designs, recognizable plush toys, and practical household goods, it has carved out a niche in the general merchandise market. Its popularity has even spread to Taiwan, sparking a whole purchasing agent industry.

I visited the large branch in COEX Mall, which was packed with middle and high school students, mostly girls. Finding a moment to take a photo without people in the frame was quite a challenge. The store offers plush toys, tableware sets, bath products, luggage, and even Hollywood-themed items like Stitch and Minions, as well as Japanese characters like Shin-chan. The most unique feature is the birthday party section, stocked with everything from decorations and birthday costumes to cards and gifts. Prices for small items are generally around 100 TWD, making them very affordable. It's no wonder the store is so popular among students.
