Visiting the Dongdaemun History Museum and seeing the excavated artifacts from Hanyangdoseong up close was truly awe-inspiring, as the historical significance was deeply conveyed. The structure of the fortress and the artifacts used at the time were meticulously displayed, allowing for a better understanding of the meaning of Hanyangdoseong. 🍁
Various artifacts excavated from the Dongdaemun History and Culture Park were also on display, ranging from traces of daily life to architectural materials. The exhibition was well-organized, providing a comprehensive view of the history and culture of this area in the past. Thanks to the systematic and rich exhibition, it was a very meaningful experience.🔮
📍The following is an excerpt from the explanatory text:
"The Seoul Metropolitan Government established and implemented preservation measures for the relics based on the Cultural Heritage Administration's review and decisions regarding the relocation of excavated remains. First, 123 meters of the Hanyangdoseong, including the Igansumun, Chiseongbu, and Cheseong walls, were restored and maintained in their original location, adhering to the principle of preserving the original form. The annex buildings and facilities (6 building sites, 2 water collection facilities, and 3 well sites) excavated from the Dongdaemun Stadium site were relocated and preserved in the Outdoor Relic Exhibition Hall 1 within the Dongdaemun History and Culture Park. Meanwhile, representative relics from the Joseon Dynasty to the Japanese colonial period, including early to late Joseon building sites and iron production-related remains excavated from the Dongdaemun Baseball Stadium site, were relocated and preserved in Outdoor Relic Exhibition Hall 2. Other building site groups (3-5 building sites, stone walls, foundations, cornerstone stones, and Gomak stones) excavated from the Dongdaemun Baseball Stadium site were relocated and restored to the Eoullim Square of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), preserving them as they were at the time of excavation."
