Shanghai History at Shanghai History Museum

Come visit Shanghai History Museum showcases the rich history and cultural evolution of Shanghai, from its early days as a fishing village to its transformation into a global metropolis. this place is located just next to People's Square, inside the Shanghai Exhibition Center.


The exhibition displays Shanghai history artifacts from prehistoric settlements in the area, era of Opium War & Treaty Port, Chronicles Shanghai’s opening to foreign trade in the 19th century. Exhibition also display the modernization and development on the rise of industry, finance, and urban culture including the highlights Shanghai's role as an international city in the early 20th century.


The museum uses interactive displays, historical relics, models, and multimedia presentations to bring the city’s past to life and it's FREE!
