Xintiandi Dian Du De - Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea Historic Site - % Coffee - Hamei Xintiandi Branch - Gentle Monster - Nanjing East Road Shopping - Half a Drink

1️⃣ Xintiandi Dian Du De
A restaurant famous for Guangdong cuisine’s specialty, Hongmi Changfen.
There are a few places in Shanghai that sell Hongmi Changfen, but Dian Du De has many branches, so I recommend going to the nearest one.

Hongmi Changfen is a must-try! The dim sum like har gow and chive dumplings are delicious.

You can order tea, but we found it a bit greasy, so we took out some refreshing bubble tea from Coco and drank it.

2️⃣ Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea Historic Site
A must-visit place if you’re Korean visiting Shanghai!
There might be a wait right after opening and lunch, so it’s better to avoid those times.
Since you have to climb steep stairs one after another, wearing a short skirt might be uncomfortable.

3️⃣ % Coffee
A cafe that’s also in Korea!
% Coffee was everywhere in Shanghai. We took out coffee while exploring the shopping center in front of Hamei.
The Spanish latte we had in London was a bit sweeter, but in Shanghai, the taste focused more on the nutty flavor of the milk rather than sweetness.

4️⃣ Hamei
A paradise for samples.
Products with yellow stickers are discounted, and other products are priced similarly to Korea, so be sure to compare duty-free prices and Korean official online prices before buying.
Estée Lauder eye cream was available for around 50,000 won, so definitely get it.

5️⃣ Gentle Monster
Next to Hamei is a shopping street.
There are various brands from streetwear to outdoor, and among them, Gentle Monster stood out.

It’s simpler than the Korean Gentle Monster stores but iconic; it reminded me of Ader Error in Seongsu.

6️⃣ Nanjing East Road
Nanjing East Road is stunningly beautiful at night with its dazzling lights, and there are plenty of shopping spots.
Especially inside the shopping centers, there are many must-visit places, so I recommend them!

4. New Balance
5. M&Ms
6. Lego

7️⃣ Half a Drink Nanjing East Road Branch
Half a Drink is most famous at Nanjing East Road and Shinsegae Department Store.
Since the Central Hotel is closer to Nanjing East Road, we visited there.

It’s a popular spot with a 20-30 minute wait even at 10 PM!
The staff kindly open the door for you, and you can order by scanning with Alipay.

Personally, I think chive, cucumber, beef skewers, and chicken feet are must-orders!
Especially if you like chicken feet, you must try it. At first, you might think you can’t eat it, but once you try it, you’ll keep ordering more! The chicken feet here have a different vibe from Korea, and I give it 100 points!!

Tips 💡
- Add Hamei on WeChat in advance and get discount coupons.
- For Half a Drink’s corn skewers, ordering 1 will give you 10 skewers, so order only once (1 order ≠ 1 skewer).
- Alipay charges a fee for payments over 200 yuan, so use split payments or a physical card.
