I was thinking of a weekend getaway not too far away in Shanghai, where I could relax and maybe even catch a fireworks show, so I chose this hotel. Little did I know, there would be strong winds and heavy rain… and the fireworks were canceled… 🥹
The hotel design is still very special. It was designed by ATKINS, the architectural firm that designed the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. The overall shape is like a peach blossom blooming on the lake 🌸
As usual, here are some notes:
🚗 Transportation: About a 1-hour drive from the city center.
Alternatively, take Metro Line 16, get off at Dishui Lake Station, and take a taxi for a few minutes.
🏨 Exterior and Lobby: The hotel occupies the South Island of Dishui Lake. The 5 petal-shaped buildings stand around the lake, like peach blossoms in bloom. The lobby is so tall and grand! In the 27-meter-high glass-domed lobby, crystal chandeliers hang down like coral, and the "shell house" front desk is super artistic. There are many beautiful lollipops in the lollipop 🍭 cart in the lobby~
🛏️ Room: The room I stayed in was quite spacious, especially with two balconies with a view. The bathroom is mainly black and white, and there are many curved elements in the room, which are not sharp and are relatively soft. One problem is that there is no suitable writing desk or office desk. I guess it's to let us have a good rest and not think about work or study during our vacation…
🍱 Dining: Nandao Food Collection has a variety of dishes and fresh ingredients; the lobby bar is a good place to enjoy afternoon tea and chat.
💆 Leisure: The Spa has many essential oils to help you relax.
🌳 Nearby Attractions:
• Shanghai Astronomy Museum (10-minute walk): The giant spherical building is super futuristic and echoes the "peach blossom" shape of the hotel, creating a great atmosphere for stargazing at night.
• Nanhui Cape Park (15-minute drive): Lean on the railing to look at the sea, encounter the "Sinan Fish" sculpture, and enjoy the sunset on the tidal flats.
• Duoyun Bookstore (10-minute drive): About 2 stories high, with a 20+ meter floor-to-ceiling window facing the wide lake, you can have a panoramic view of the sparkling lake. The entire three-story space contains more than 40,000 books and many cute cultural and creative products. Find a place to sit down, order a cup of coffee and open a book, and you can spend a whole afternoon here leisurely.
• Lakeside Cycling: The hotel offers bicycle rental services. Ride along the lake, enjoy the breeze, and admire the lake and mountains along the way. It is very pleasant.
