Jing'an Temple: A Tranquil Oasis Amidst the Bustle

Whenever I visit Jing'an Temple in Shanghai, I always feel a special sense of peace and solemnity. This ancient temple stands tall in the heart of the modern city, where the bustling skyscrapers around it seem like a world apart from the calm within. On sunny days, stepping through the temple gates reveals majestic golden rooftops and a grand incense burner that commands attention.

Standing in the temple courtyard, surrounded by buildings intertwined with the city skyline, I am suddenly struck by a sensation of "time rewinding." The air is filled with incense smoke, and many worshippers quietly pray as they walk over intricately carved stone steps, as if all worries are being carried away by the wind.

I enter the main hall, raise my hands, and listen to the melodious sounds of bells and wooden fish, completely forgetting the noisy traffic outside. Every pillar and Buddha statue here carries profound cultural heritage and the power of faith.

After capturing these beautiful moments, I walk to the temple’s side door and see monks peacefully tending to the flowers and plants in the small courtyard, as if reminding us that life can be simple and harmonious.

This is the feeling Jing'an Temple gives me—no matter how busy the city is, here I can always find inner peace.
