Lost in Zhujiajiaoš¤

Less than an hour from busy Shanghai ā and it feels like stepping into another time. Narrow lanes, arched bridges, quiet canals, and whitewashed houses reflected in the water. Zhujiajiao, the āVenice of the East,ā moves at its own calm rhythm.
š How to get there:
Take metro line 17 to Zhujiajiao Station, then walk about 15 minutes to the old town. A taxi takes roughly an hour. Mornings are best ā fewer people and soft, golden light for photos.
š What to do:
Wander over stone bridges, take a boat through the canals, and explore Bei Dajie Street, filled with cafĆ©s, local snacks, and small craft shops. Walk without a plan ā the town itself will guide you.
š¤Donāt leave without pearls.
Along the canals youāll find hidden jewelry stalls ā choose a pearl necklace or earrings as a memory of the day. The pearls here catch the sunlight just like the waterās reflections.
ā Before you go:
Sit by the canal with a cup of jasmine tea, watch boats slide under the bridges, and let yourself get a little lost in the quiet.
