Stunning Cliff Dwellings and Water Town Charm: A 3-Day Travel Guide to Wangxian Valley & Tongling

If you have limited vacation time but want a relaxing 2-3 day getaway, the cliffside village of Wangxian Valley in Jiangxi and the water town scenery of Tongling in Anhui make excellent choices. With extra time, you can also add Mount Sanqingshan to your itinerary.

Daily Itinerary

D1: Beijing → Wangxian Valley (Shangrao)

- Transportation: Take high-speed train from Beijing South to Shangrao (06:54-12:57), fare ¥726.
- Transfer: From Shangrao Station to Wangxian Valley, book via "Didi Site Bus" mini-program, ¥30/person, last bus at 16:00.
- Accommodation:
- Outside scenic area: ¥200+/night
- Inside scenic area: ¥1299+/night (includes entrance ticket)

D2: Wangxian Valley → Tongling

- Transportation:
- Wangxian Valley to Shangrao Station: Choose "Didi Site Bus" (¥30, earliest 10:00) or carpool through homestay (¥35/person).
- High-speed train from Shangrao to Tongling North (09:08-10:34 or 09:55-11:44), ¥151, ~2 hours.
- Transfer:
- Taxi from Tongling North to Yongquan Town: ~¥20.
- Taxi from Yongquan Town to Liqiao Water Town: ~¥55.
- Accommodation:
- Lavande Hotel: ¥200+/night, located between both attractions.
- Liqiao Water Town homestay or Yongquan Hot Spring Hotel (recommended, offers free shuttle to Tongling/Tongling North stations, requires reservation).
- Tips:
1. Staying at Yongquan Hot Spring Hotel allows luggage storage; watch the 13:30 wedding parade.
2. Then taxi to Liqiao Water Town for afternoon performances, stay for night views.
3. Return to hotel and hike "Twelve Jiangnan Scenes" hill for spectacular light show at night.

D3: Tongling → Beijing

- Transportation:
- High-speed train from Tongling North/Tongling to Beijing (14:16-20:16 or 15:25-20:55), ¥538.
- Yongquan Hot Spring Hotel provides free shuttle to Tongling Station.
