During my trip to Ubud, Indonesia, I spend an incredible morning exploring the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. This serene forest is home to hundreds of Balinese long-tailed monkeys and being able to walk amongst them wS both thrilling and peaceful. #monkeyforest #adventure#holidayvacation
🐒 As soon as I entered, I was surrounded by the beautiful greenery of towering trees and moss-covered statues, which created a mystical atmosphere. The playful monkeys added to the charm, swinging through the trees and curiously approaching visitors.
Tip for travellers:
- Avoid carrying food: the monkeys are very curious and will try ti snatch any food you bring, so it’s best to leave the snacks at the entrance.
- Secure your belongings: the monkeys are known to grab shiny or loose items, si keep you belongings like sunglasses and phones secure!
- Photos: while it’s tempting to take selfies with the monkeys, try not to get too close. Instead, let the monkeys approach you for a more natural interaction.
🌳 The forest is not only a sanctuary for monkeys but also a cultural gem with ancient temples hidden within the lush surroundings. I truly recommend to visit Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal, which is the main temple. Featuring intricate stone carvings and ancient architecture. It serves as a spiritual center for local ceremonies and offers a captivating glimpse inti Balinese culture. #heritage #temple #culture
Keep in mind that there are several temples within the sanctuary that are sacred to the locals, so be mindful and follow signs when exploring.
The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary offers a unique blend of nature, wildlife and Balinese culture. It’s a must-visit if you are in Ubud, whether you are an animal lover or just looking to escape into nature for a few hours. The calmness of the forest and the playful energy of the monkeys make for a perfect morning adventure! Just remember, they are wild animals, so observe them with caution and respect to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. #localexperience
