🐲 Songzanlin Monastery is located in Shangri-La, Yunnan Province, China, about 5 kilometers from the city center. Built in 1679, it is a replica of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. It is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Yunnan.
📸 A popular photo spot is at Lamuyangcuo Lake in front of the temple.
🕰️ Opening hours: Open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
💰 Admission fee: 55 yuan (about 250 baht) for the temple entrance fee and 20 yuan (about 90 baht) for the shuttle bus.
🚗 Transportation: From downtown Shangri-La, you can take bus number 3 or 16 to the ticket booth, which takes about 15 minutes and costs about 2 yuan (about 10 baht).
🤩 After buying a ticket, you will need to take a shuttle bus to the temple, then cross the road and climb the stairs to the main hall. There are beautiful Bodhisattvas and murals inside. Photography is prohibited.
❤️ At the bus stop in front of the temple, there is a shop that rents clothes to dress in Tibetan folk style. You can rent clothes to take pictures inside the temple. The temple is very large and is on a mountain. It is quite high up and there are many photo spots.
