The Former Residence Memorial Hall of General Yang Jingyu, located 5 kilometers south of Zhumadian City, boasts a north-facing entrance and a magnificent brick and stone structure with double-eaved brackets and a glazed green tile roof. The lintel inscribes: "Former Residence Memorial Hall of General Yang Jingyu, the Anti-Japanese Hero." On the back, Chairman Zhu De inscribes the thirteen powerful characters: "Comrade Yang Jingyu, the People's Hero, Will Live Forever." Upon entering, a neat passage leads south, with residences for the memorial staff to the west. A corner gate in the middle of the east road, shaped like a full moon, exudes a quaint elegance.
The North Room was where General Yang Jingyu was born and lived during his youth. Furnished within were two wooden beds, a pair of sleeping cabinets, a half-length cabinet, a large wardrobe, a square table, a drawer table, and other items such as a teapot and washbasin. These items were used by Yang Jingyu during his youth. A room at the east end of the North Room, furnished with simple tables and benches, was where General Yang Jingyu often held secret meetings during his youth as he led the peasant revolution in southern Henan. Some of his most important strategies for struggle were formulated here.
