Shangri-La: A Dream Destination

If we talk about dream destinations that Bomiko wishes to visit, Shangri-La is undoubtedly one of them—a place that must be experienced at least once. And finally, Bomiko has fulfilled her dream.

Shangri-La, a stunning city nestled in the Himalayas, is believed to be a utopia—a city of happiness and immortality. Originally named Zhongdian, it is located in the northwest of Yunnan Province, a special administrative region of the Tibetan ethnic group in China.

Shangri-La is a fictional land described in the 1933 novel "Lost Horizon" by British author James Hilton. He depicted Shangri-La as a mysterious land hidden in towering mountain ranges, where its inhabitants live long, happy lives. It can be said that this place is akin to heaven on earth.

Explorers and travelers have long searched for this mythical land, with claims from India and Nepal that it lies within their territories. However, there has been insufficient evidence to support these claims.

Eventually, it was discovered that Zhongdian in Yunnan Province, China, aligns with many of the descriptions from the novel. In 2002, China officially renamed Zhongdian to "Shangri-La," a Tibetan term meaning "a land as beautiful as paradise."
