Sheraton Shantou Hotel | A New Landmark for Luxurious Stays in a Coastal City

The lobby is very impressive, and the staff at the front desk were super friendly when I checked in. They even upgraded my room. My room was on the 28th floor with amazing views. The floor-to-ceiling windows looked directly over Shantou Bay, and the night view was especially beautiful. The bed was a Sheraton signature Sweet Sleeper, just the right firmness, and I slept soundly through the night.
My favorite part was the Executive Lounge. The afternoon tea had a wide variety of snacks, fruit, and drinks. During happy hour, they also offered cocktails and appetizers. Sitting by the window, enjoying the sunset while eating and drinking was pure bliss!
Breakfast was served on the 2nd floor in the all-day dining restaurant. I highly recommend the Shantou-style kway teow soup and oyster omelet, made fresh to order. There were also many other Chinese and Western dishes to choose from. The fruit section had seasonal lychees and longans, which were super sweet.
The gym is open 24 hours and has all new equipment, plus an indoor heated pool. The biggest surprise was the rooftop garden on the 6th floor. It was so relaxing to take a walk there in the evening and enjoy the sea breeze.
The service deserves full marks. The housekeeping staff cleaned the room meticulously, and it always looked brand new when I returned. The concierge staff were very professional in helping me call a taxi and recommending restaurants.
The only minor drawback is that the occupancy rate is quite high on weekends, and sometimes you have to wait for the elevator. I recommend traveling during off-peak times; the value is even better during the low season. Overall, I highly recommend this Sheraton, and I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Shantou!
