Shanwei is a hidden gem of a seaside destination in Guangdong!

Hey everyone! I'm here to tell you that Shanwei is a treasure among Guangdong's coastal cities! As a Shenzhen office worker who loves to travel, I've been all over the Guangdong coast, and I still think the Shanwei - Lufeng self-driving route is worth visiting again and again. I've been there three times!

πŸš„ It's super convenient to get to, with high-speed trains from Guangzhou and Shenzhen costing only CNY 69. When the weather is good, the beautiful scenery where the sea and sky meet is so vast that you'll fall in love with it at first sight. And apart from the somewhat expensive seafood by the sea, everything else is basically great, and it's all free!

🏠 Accommodation is also very affordable. You can get a seaside apartment for less than CNY 100 in the off-season, but prices skyrocket in the peak season, so I love going in the off-season when there are fewer people, beautiful scenery, and you save money.

🎈 Windmill Island: As soon as you enter the island, the [Seaside Highway] is a great place to take photos. There are many vehicles coming and going, so be careful when taking photos. There are also creative coffee stalls along the road, where you can drink and take photos in a great atmosphere. Don't miss the new [Floating Sun] spot, where you can take photos with stranded cruise ships and chimneys, and relax in a beach chair while watching the sea. It's so pleasant that you won't want to leave. We stayed for more than an hour!

🎈 Qianshui Bay: There is a boardwalk that stretches out to the sea, a seaside swing, and cruise ships in the distance where the sea and sky meet. The sand on the beach is fine. Although it's not big, it's definitely worth a visit.

🎈 360 Viewing Platform: You used to be able to climb to the top and see the beautiful scenery, but now it's closed. However, a Jeju Island-style seaside coffee shop has been built at the foot of the mountain, which is great for taking photos.

🎈 Houao Glass Sea: The first time I went there, it was an deserted wild beach, but now it's been developed really well. The sea is bluer than the places I've been to before, which is super beautiful.

🎈 Seaside Ancient Castle: A very popular spot, it's very crowded and the coffee is expensive, but the scenery is really amazing. Next to it is the [Nanhai Guanyin], which you can reach by strolling along the rocks, with the sunset, creating a great atmosphere.

🍜 Don't eat seafood by the sea, unless you want to splurge. Go to Erma Road for food, where you can eat all you want for less than CNY 100 a day. I've tried it and it's super affordable!
