An underrated historic treasure town, what’s it like to stay in Shaoxing?

They say Suzhou and Hangzhou are the best in the north and south.
Compared to these two long-time popular cities,
the low-key Shaoxing is the true Jiangnan in my heart.

1 Lu Xun’s Former Residence 🆓
You probably don’t need my recommendation for Brother Xun’s home! You can’t visit Shaoxing without stopping by.

2 East Lake (50 RMB)
East Lake Scenic Area is small, it was a filming location for the Daughter Kingdom in Journey to the West. I suggest taking a black-awning boat to experience the cliffs.

3 Lanting (70 RMB)
The Goose Pond, the flowing wine cup in the winding creek, and the Lanting Imperial Stele are all here. You can also visit the museum. It might be even more stunning when the lotus flowers bloom.

4 Calligrapher’s Former Residence 🆓
The popular bridge, Ink Pool, and the famous wall are here.

8⃣️ Shen Garden (40 RMB daytime)
Not far from Lu Xun’s Former Residence, the scenery is average.
