It takes about 20 minutes by high-speed rail from Hangzhou to Shaoxing. I visited the hometown of modern Chinese literary writer #Lu Xun. Here are #Baicaoyuan (Lu Xun's ancestral home), #Sanweishuwu (Lu Xun's former residence) and #Lu Xun Memorial Hall. For lunch, we went to the #Xianheng Hotel, the home of Kong Yiji in Lu Xun's novels, and tried fennel beans 🫛 and Shaoxing wine 🍶.
Shaoxing is a city full of literary flavor. In the morning, I visited the study of Lu Xun, a recent Chinese literary writer. In the afternoon, I went to the #Lanting practice room of Wang Xizhi, a calligrapher from the Eastern Jin Dynasty, located on the shade of #Kuaiji Mountain. The "Lanting Preface" he wrote is known as the best running script in the world. The 324-word preface serves as a footnote to the vastness of the universe, expresses joy for meeting a bosom friend and being able to pursue one's interests, laments the tacit understanding of the feelings and excitement of the past and present, and sings praises for the brevity of life and the impermanence of death and death. The emotions twist and turn, with ups and downs, will be passed down through the ages.
The strong literary and artistic atmosphere left a deep impression on me.
