Hometown of a Hero: The Former Residence of Cai E

The Former Residence of Cai E is located in Cai E Village, Cai E Township, Daxiang District, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province (Jiangjia Chong Caiqiao Head, Qinmu Township, Shaoyang County, Baoqing Prefecture, Hunan Province). Cai E was born here on December 18, 1882 (the ninth day of the eleventh month of the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty). This is also where Cai E lived and studied in Baoqing during his childhood and teenage years. In May 2002, the Former Residence of Cai E was listed as a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Hunan Province. In June 2006, it was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
