About Sharjah Art Museum

The Sharjah Art Museum is a contemporary art gallery located in the heart of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. It was founded in 1997 and houses a collection of over 500 works of art by Arab artists, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions of international art.

The Sharjah Art Museum is housed in an eye-catching building designed by the Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid. The building is made of white concrete and glass, and its undulating forms are inspired by the desert landscape of the UAE. The museum has three levels of exhibition space, as well as a library, a research center, and a café.

The museum's collection of Arab art is one of the most extensive in the world. It includes works by some of the most significant Arab artists, such as Hassan Sharif, Mohammed Kazem, and Ahmed Mater. The collection is divided into three main sections: Modern Art, Contemporary Art, and Islamic Art.

The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions of international art. In recent years, it has hosted exhibitions of works by artists such as Ai Weiwei, Jeff Koons, and Damien Hirst.
