Yunnan is home to many ancient towns, and nestled between Lijiang and Dali, where the Jinsha, Lancang, and Nu Rivers converge, lies the charming "Shaxi Ancient Town." Though small in scale, Shaxi has gained popularity as a tourist destination thanks to its picturesque setting featured in the TV drama "Meet Yourself." The town is now bustling with visitors.

Shaxi is a historic town that once thrived as an important stop on the Tea Horse Road. Today, the ancient town retains its unique local architecture, including well-preserved horse inns where caravans once rested. Some of these inns have been converted into guesthouses, offering travelers the unique experience of staying in century-old buildings.

The town is compact, and you can explore it in just one or two hours. However, if you have more time, it’s highly recommended to stay overnight. Stroll along the old streets, take in the tranquil atmosphere that contrasts with the busier Dali Ancient Town, and savor the local cuisine.
