Take a boat ride on Fuxian Lake, visit the nearby temples, hike around the lake's edge, and enjoy local Yunnan cuisine at lakeside restaurants.

Fuxian Lake, nicknamed "Ten Thousand Acres of Glazed Glass" by the ancients for its crystal-clear waters, is China's largest deep-water freshwater lake and the largest lake at the source of the Pearl River. It belongs to the Nanpan River system and is located between Jiangchuan District, Chengjiang County, and Huaning County in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, over 70 kilometers from Kunming.
Fuxian Lake, with an elevation of 1,722.5 meters above sea level and a surface area of 216.6 square kilometers, has an average depth of 95.2 meters and a maximum depth of 158.9 meters. Its water storage capacity is 12 times that of Dianchi Lake, 6 times that of Erhai Lake, and 4.5 times that of Taihu Lake. It accounts for 72.8% of the total water storage capacity of Yunnan's nine plateau lakes and 9.16% of the total water storage capacity of China's freshwater lakes. Fuxian Lake's water quality is Class I, making it a national Class I drinking water source and one of the highest-quality natural lakes in my country.
Because of the deep water and strong waves in Fuxian Lake, it is difficult for emergent plants and phytoplankton to grow in the lake. There are also few plankton and benthic organisms such as snails, clams, and shrimps, and they only grow in the shallow waters along the lake.
There are many scenic spots around Fuxian Lake. The west bank is traditional scenic spots such as Luchong Scenic Area, Gushan Scenic Area, Mingxing Fish Cave Scenic Area, Biyun Temple, etc.
