In summer, naturally, we have to go to the beach to play in the water—here we are on Gouqi Island

📍We stopped and took photos along the winding mountain road, arriving at one of the 'Ten Scenic Spots of Shengsi' called 'Mountain and Sea Wonders.' At first, because there was a Guanyin Zen Temple nearby, we thought it was another sea god temple where islanders and fishermen prayed for good weather. Later, after reading the introduction on the stone tablet, we learned that a stirring historical event had taken place here. I remembered the name Hou Jigao! A hero who fought against Japanese pirates, a legendary story of resistance!! Just like this natural divine stone, used as a monument to record this story, it is both a piece of history and a scenic spot, truly wonderful!
🏘From the Mountain and Sea Wonders, you can overlook almost the entire Gouqi Island. Looking around, you can strike various poses. Gouqi Island is also known as the 'Mussel Town,' so you can see mussels being dried everywhere. When we arrived at the homestay, the room was decorated with a marine theme. The enthusiastic owner treated us to the local specialty: seafood noodles, which were rich in ingredients and tasted great. It is said that if you come to Gouqi, you must try the seafood noodles, otherwise, it's like you haven't been here!
🍲After coming down from the Mountain and Sea Wonders, we headed straight to the food street for a meal, which was another table full of seafood, including octopus and tigerhead fish caught early in the morning. The process of encountering delicious food is naturally joyful. Thinking about taking a walk around the island after the meal to digest?!
🚴🏻So, this group of people walked grandly on Gouqi Island, either taking videos with big strides, gathering in front of the mountain road's reflective mirrors for a group photo, or sitting in a row by the roadside with hands raised above their heads, telling the sea, 'I have been here.'
🛎tips1: Why are there no electric scooters or bicycles for rent on the island? Wouldn't that be more fitting? The answer we got was that there had been traffic accidents before, with tourists getting injured or killed, so they banned the rental of non-motorized vehicles.
tips2: Although Gouqi Island doesn't look big, walking around it covers quite a distance. The best way is naturally to take a taxi (private car), which costs between 30-80 depending on the distance. Learn to bargain!
