A Journey to Shenyang Filled with History and Gastronomy

The three-night stay in Shenyang was a well-rounded itinerary that included history, gastronomy, and urban strolls. On Friday morning, the first destination was the Shenyang Imperial Palace, the early Qing Dynasty royal palace. Though smaller than the Forbidden City, it exudes a unique charm with its rich Manchu culture. The ornate decorations and main hall architecture offered a tangible sense of the Qing Dynasty's beginnings. Next, a visit to Beiling Park (Qing Zhao Mausoleum) provided a majestic experience amidst lush forests and a serene lake, where the tombs of the Qing Dynasty's founding emperor and empress are located. The long pathway lined with statues and the red-tiled pavilions were tranquil yet dignified.

Another highlight of the trip was the food. Visiting restaurants like Luobian Dumpling House, Fengcheng Small Restaurant, Bofa Yuan Mingcai Restaurant, and Wanghou Yuan Dumpling House allowed me to savor a variety of dumplings and local dishes. The flavors were subtle yet profound, offering a true taste of Shenyang's culinary delights. The lively atmosphere of the bustling local eateries in the evening added to the travel experience.

In the city center, strolling through Zhongjie and West Pagoda Street provided a close-up view of local life and vibrancy. The mix of traditional ambiance and modern commercial areas made the walk itself fascinating. Although the trip spanned from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon, it was a packed three-night itinerary that fully embraced Shenyang's charm through historical exploration, gastronomy, and urban strolls.
