Going to the north for food, drink and entertainment has become very popular in recent years, but most people go to Shenzhen to visit large shopping malls. Shenzhen is of course a relatively new city that has been developing and rebuilt very rapidly, but in fact, Shenzhen still has an ancient city preserved in it with a history of more than 1,700 years, which still stands today. Located in Nanshan District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, Nantou Ancient City, also known as "Xin'an Ancient City", is situated on the east bank of the Pearl River estuary. It has a history of nearly 1,700 years since the establishment of Dongguan County in the sixth year of Xianhe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (331 AD). This ancient city was the seat of the Bao'an County Government before the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. It has witnessed the "migration and return" of the center of Shenzhen and is known as the "root of Shenzhen and Hong Kong's history and culture" and the "capital of eastern Guangdong and the source of Hong Kong and Macao." Nantou Ancient City is the origin of Shenzhen city and a valuable relic of ancient Lingnan culture. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province.

Nantou Ancient Town is an irregular rectangle, backed by mountains and facing the sea. It has nine streets, which are called "Nine Streets" by local folks. The road network here is perfectly integrated with the natural terrain, and is full of the rich historical atmosphere of the ancient city. In recent years, Nantou Ancient Town has undergone a renovation project, integrating young brands and fashion trends into the ancient town, forming a place that integrates cultural creativity, trendy art, special catering and cultural leisure, showing new vitality.
