Shenzhen | Rong Yue

I discovered a hidden gem of a Sichuan restaurant in the Ruiyin Building in Shenzhen Bay.

As soon as you open the door, you're drawn in by the luxurious yet understated decor. The earthy wood tones, understated yet grand design, and the presence of greenery and murals everywhere create a sophisticated atmosphere.

What surprised me was that they have private rooms for groups! This makes it a perfect spot for gatherings with friends or business dinners, offering both privacy and a high aesthetic appeal.

I tried several of their signature dishes, and the spiciness was just right. Even with my Guangdong palate, I found the flavors delightful.

The Xiaoqinglong Mapo Tofu was a standout. The tender Xiaoqinglong (small lobster) paired with the spicy and savory Mapo Tofu was a fantastic fusion of seafood and Sichuan cuisine.

The Hanyuan Peppercorn Ribs were also a favorite of mine. The numbing aroma of the peppercorns combined with the rich flavor of the ribs made for a tender and delicious dish.
