Langkawi Mahsuri Tomb & Cultural Centre: A History of an Island Steeped in Legend

#Travel Guide

Located in the heart of Langkawi Island, the Mahsuri Tomb and Cultural Center is a historical site related to the island's most famous legend, "Masuri's Curse."
Masuri is said to have been a woman who was wrongfully executed during the ancient Langkawi Kingdom.
She is said to have left a curse before her death: "There will be no peace on this island for seven generations."

The site now houses Mahsuri's tomb, a memorial hall, a traditional house, and an exhibition space recreating her life and culture.
Opening hours are daily from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

Inside the exhibition hall, a short film about the Mahsuri legend is displayed, along with traditional clothing, household items, and artwork, providing a glimpse into Langkawi's culture at the time.
While not particularly glamorous, the Mahsuri Tomb and Cultural Center is a worthwhile visit if you're interested in learning about Langkawi's traditions and legends.
