It is one of the most impressive examples of modern urban architecture in the world. Just 40 years ago, Shenzhen was a small fishing village. After being designated as China's first Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in 1980, the city began to grow at an incredible pace. Skyscrapers have become a symbol of this 'Chinese economic miracle.' Construction in Shenzhen never stops. New projects for super-tall and 'green' skyscrapers, utilizing advanced technologies for energy efficiency and comfort, are constantly emerging.
