Who would have thought! After squeezing through crowds in Shenzhen, there's actually a "seaside secret spot" like Dongchong! It doesn't have the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds of Dameisha, nor the commercial hustle and bustle of Jiaochangwei. Here, the sea is a clear blue, the sand is fine and white, soft underfoot like stepping into clouds, and every casual photo looks like a professional seaside shot.
Arrive around 10 a.m., when the sun isn't too strong yet, and take a stroll along the beach. The waves gently wash over your ankles, carrying the salty sea breeze, making every breath feel lighter. If you like water activities, be sure to rent a paddleboard or kayak and paddle a bit out to sea—you'll see schools of small fish swimming underwater, so clear it looks like they're "floating." When tired, find a lounge chair under a tree to rest, watching fishing boats drift slowly in the distance, as if time itself slows down.
No need to worry about lunch; the seafood stalls around the beach are super authentic! Freshly caught shrimp, crab, and clams, simply steamed to perfection, so fresh it’ll make your eyebrows raise. You can eat your fill for just a few dozen yuan per person, much more affordable than seafood restaurants in the city. After eating, take a walk on the nearby Dongchong hiking trail. Climb along the coastline to get a panoramic view of Dongchong Bay—the blue sea, white beach, and green vegetation all connected in one stunning scene, perfect for your social media cover photo.
The real highlight is Dongchong at dusk! The sunset dyes the sky orange and pink, the sea sparkles like scattered gold. Whether taking group photos with friends or solo silhouette shots, the atmosphere is perfect. When it gets darker, if you're lucky, you might see the twinkling "bioluminescent algae." Although it’s not as spectacular as the real Blue Tears, seeing this kind of romance in Shenzhen is already a wonderful surprise.
Tips: ① It’s recommended to drive; it takes about 1.5 hours from the city, and the parking lot is conveniently near the beach; ② Remember to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and swimwear, as the UV rays by the sea are strong; ③ Be sure to take your trash with you to protect this clean and beautiful place!
Next time you want to escape the city's hustle, come to Dongchong. Here, all you need to do is enjoy the sunshine, waves, and freedom~
