Shenzhen has many great beaches, but if you want one accessible directly by subway and free to enjoy the sea, it has to be Dameisha. Blue skies, white clouds + glassy sea—every snap looks like a tropical vacation! ⛱️
1️⃣ Super convenient transportation 🚗: Drive from downtown to Dameisha Seaside Park, or take subway lines 2 or 8 and exit at Exit A right onto the beach!
2️⃣ Free! Free! Free! 🎉: Such a beautiful public beach with no entrance fee—what more could you want?
3️⃣ Fine sand and clear water 🏖️: The beach is quite large, stretching 1.8 kilometers. The sand is fine and soft, very comfortable to walk barefoot, perfect for strolling, playing in the sand, and sunbathing. On sunny days, the seawater is a clear blue-green, and near the shore it looks like jelly! 🌊 (Make sure to go on a sunny day)
4️⃣ After exiting the subway, walk right along the road to reach the seaside boardwalk. Built along the coast, it offers great sea views, ideal for walking, cycling, and taking photos (it gets busier on holidays).
5️⃣ Facilities: There are changing rooms, showers (paid), lockers, and rentals for umbrellas and lounge chairs. If you go into the water, it’s best to bring your own swimwear. Sand toys like shovels and carts for kids are sold there, and food and drinks are available too.
6️⃣ Photography 📸: Don’t just stick to the sea area right outside the subway exit—many people stay there, making it crowded and less enjoyable. Walk along the boardwalk to the right for fewer people. 🙋🏻♀️ The entire seaside boardwalk is great for photos, such as taking wide shots at the boardwalk corners; shooting down from the stairs at the boardwalk’s end; or at the boardwalk’s hilltop turns and rocks. 😎 The park entrance’s 🌞 Sun Plaza is a landmark perfect for photo check-ins, and the 🌙 Moon Plaza offers sunset views.
7️⃣ Weekends and holidays get very crowded, so it’s best to avoid those times or go early in the morning.
8️⃣ Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen! The seaside is really “wow, so sunny” 🌞 with very strong UV rays. Remember to apply sunscreen and ideally wear a hat, sunglasses, and sun-protective clothing.
📌 Practical Tips:
Bring flip-flops or beach shoes 👣 because the sand gets hot at noon.
Bring swimwear and a change of clothes 👙 for cleanliness and hygiene.
Bring towels and shower supplies 🧴 for rinsing off.
Bring a waterproof phone pouch 📱 to protect your phone from water.
Bring a picnic mat or tent ⛺️—many people rest on the beach, so these are very useful.
Buy water and snacks 🍉—though available at the site, they are a bit pricey.
⚠️ Note: Keep your valuables safe; it’s best to store expensive items in lockers. When I was there, a couple lost their phone and were searching everywhere. Pay attention to rip current warnings and swim only in designated safe areas!
