Funaoka Castle Ruins Park is not just an old castle ruin, but a spectacular cherry blossom viewing spot in Miyagi. You can relax all year round. There are places to walk around, learn about history, and the most beautiful view on the slope car with the Kannon statue on the mountaintop. If you come to Sendai and want to find a cherry blossom spot, you must come.

There is a small food stall on top. We ate grilled potatoes with ice cream and peach soft cream. It was unexpectedly delicious.

Tips:

If you want to take the tram to see the view from above, I recommend going before 4 pm because it opens until around that time.

The cherry blossoms here bloom a little later than in Tokyo, around early to mid April. Try checking the forecast in advance.

For those with a JR Pass, you can take the train from Sendai to Funaoka Station. It takes about 25-30 minutes.
