Dongguan 🌿Shi Pai 🪨New attractions 🧳～～Hongshishan Park 🏜️

Hongshi Mountain Park 🏜️ (formerly the site of the ancient Yanling ⛰️ quarry 🪨⛏️), is located between Yanwo Village 🏘️ and Tianbian Village 🏘️ in Shipai Town 🌿, Dongguan City. The site landscape 🏞️ renovation was completed in August 2020. The Yanling ⛰️ mountain is composed of red sandstone 🏜️. It is the only red sandstone 🏜️ mining site in Dongguan City 🌿 and a provincial cultural relic protection unit.

The ancient quarry in Yanling 🪨⛏️ mined a large amount of stone during the Ming and Qing dynasties. During the Republic of China period and after the founding of New China 🇨🇳, stone quarrying continued 🪨⛏️ for the construction of residential buildings 🏘️, ancestral halls 🏠 and other buildings.

Because red stone is durable and its color represents joy and auspiciousness, it fits the aesthetic consciousness of Chinese people very well. For example, the Ying'en Gate (West City Tower) at the Xizheng Road intersection (Wancheng Street) in the old city of Dongguan is made of red stone.

After hundreds of years of mining, many deep pools and cliffs remain, forming various strange landscapes, such as the Eighteen Rooms 🏘️, Optimus Prime 🛕, Bu Tian Stone 🏞️, Crouching Dragon Stone 🐉 and so on.

During the landscape transformation, an artificial lake was excavated 💦, a walking greenway 🏃🏻‍♂️, a lakeside rest pavilion 🏯, a red stone bridge 🌉 and seats 🪑 were built, and plants such as grass 🌱, willow trees, large-flowered crape myrtles 🌳 and frangipani 🌳 were planted to add vitality to the environment 🕊️.

Take bus No. 705 from Shilong Town 🐉 Dongguan Railway Station 🚉, get off at Shibei Road Bus Station 🚌, walk along Shipai Avenue for 10 minutes to reach Hongshishan Park 🏜️, the fare is RMB 3, no change is provided, the first bus is at 06:00 and the last bus is at 21:30.
