▶️This is what it looked like last year.

I wanted to see Shirakawa-go covered in snow, but it was a warm winter...
I was imagining Gassho-style houses with piles of rooftops, but unfortunately it wasn't. 😅

This Gassho-style village, which has a beautiful landscape that can be said to be the original landscape of Japan, has been recognized and registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Being registered as a World Heritage Site has increased its popularity, and tourists from both Japan and abroad are visiting.

The parking lot was almost full that day as well.
The tourists on the tour buses were all foreigners.

Just like Takayama, I think 80% were foreigners.

The bridge leading from the parking lot to the Gassho-zukuri houses
was jammed with people 😅😅.

▶️It is one of the largest gassho-style houses in Shirakawa-go and is the only one designated as an Important Cultural Property by the government.

During the Edo period, the family served as village headmen and guardhouse officials.

It is still used as a residence today, and the first and second floors are open to the public.

There is a hearth room and a Buddhist altar room, and in the past, actual daily utensils, folk tools, and farm tools are on display, as well as red lacquer tableware used for weddings and celebrations.

The view from the second floor is a must-see!! 👍👍👍

📍Hagimachi Gassho-style Village

Ogimachi, Shirakawa-mura, Ono-gun, Gifu Prefecture

Shirakawa-go has a number of gourmet foods to eat while walking around.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery and treat your eyes, and fill your stomach with delicious food.

Hida beef sushi, Shirakawa-go churros,
Gassho-style tiramisu, Gassho-style castella cake,
grilled rice balls, pork skewers, gohei mochi, etc.

This is on the left side after crossing Deai Bridge from the parking lot and passing through the village torii gate.

The Gassho-style monaka sandwiches with ice cream inside are very cute when they stand upright.

There were also Gassho-style castella cakes,
but they were sold out.
