You can also see Mt. Fuji from downtown Shizuoka! Many people don’t know that Mount Fuji spans the two prefectures of Yamanashi and Shizuoka. You don’t have to go to Kawaguchiko to see this highest peak in Japan.

Hachimanyama Park is located near the city center and can be reached by bus in ten minutes from Shizuoka Station. You can reach the top of the mountain by climbing about 200 steps from the shrine entrance. The route is simple but you can see the amazing view of Mount Fuji! There is also a bronze statue of "Boy's Dream" here. Taking photos here with Mount Fuji is a beautiful composition.

The park itself is not large and although there are no facilities, the angle of viewing Mount Fuji from here is very special. You can see the contrast between the city and Mount Fuji at the same time. It is especially recommended at sunset 🌅
