🍖 Gochi-So Shokudo @ Jewel Changi — Grilled Pork Perfection, If You Order Right

Dropped by Gochi-So Shokudo at Jewel Changi for a casual lunch and honestly, if you’re into char-grilled pork, this place has some gems—just gotta know what to go for.
I had the Truffle Chestnut Pork Jowl Don and it was pretty impressive for the price. The pork was smoky and super tender, paired with sautéed mushrooms and an onsen egg that melted beautifully into the rice. That subtle truffle aroma gave it a bit of a luxe touch without being over-the-top. Loved it.
Also tried the Iberico Secreto Black Char Siew Don—this one was rich, slightly sweet, and had that satisfying char that makes every bite addictive. It felt like comfort food but with better ingredients.
But not everything hit the mark. The Bellota Loin Katsu was a letdown—dry, a little bland, and kind of chewy. I wouldn’t order that again. It’s surprising, considering how good the grilled dishes were.
Service-wise, it was a bit meh. The system was confusing—you order, then seat yourself, but there’s no clear direction and some staff seemed disengaged. Also, they don’t serve tap water unless you buy a bottle, which felt a bit stingy for a place that charges service fees.
That said, the view makes up for a lot. Sitting near the Rain Vortex with sunlight streaming in while digging into a pork bowl? Pretty zen. Tables are a little cramped, so don’t expect to sprawl out—but if you’re solo or with one other person, it works.
If you’re at Jewel and craving something hearty and affordable, Gochi-So Shokudo is worth checking out—just stick with their grilled pork dons and skip the fried stuff.
