A Day of Wonders at Marina Bay Sands

After spending two months stuck at home during late pregnancy, I was desperate to get out 😭
Thanks to my family’s support, I boarded the Star Voyager cruise just 42 days after giving birth. It was so chill and comfortable — a few days of freedom just for myself…
🔹 Food: Surprisingly good! Even the buffet was tasty, and the specialty restaurants delivered. The only downside was the overpriced drink packages — coffee for five days cost over 100 SGD, and the unlimited alcohol package was around 500+ SGD. But considering a coffee is just a few dollars and sparkling wine about ten, I really don’t get their pricing strategy.
🔹 Wi-Fi: Amazingly fast. I got the basic package (two devices, five days) for 105 SGD. It’s the smoothest internet I’ve ever had at sea — apparently they use Starlink.
🔹 Itinerary: This ship mainly cruises around Southeast Asia. For us, it was one day in Malacca, one in Jakarta, and two days at sea. If you board from Malacca or Jakarta, you actually get an extra Singapore stop, which makes it perfect for ticking off three countries in one trip.
🔹 Malacca: Disembark by ferry tender into the old town. The attractions are close together — easy to explore on your own. A friendly Singaporean auntie onboard told me she went straight for a heavily discounted Haidilao hotpot and a massage 😆
🔹 Jakarta: We joined the ship’s excursion to Mount Merapi 🌋 and the Jakarta–Bandung high-speed rail 🚄. It was a full day out (and yes, included the “authentic” Jakarta traffic jam experience 😪).
Overall, it’s a great trip to take parents or grandparents on. Very relaxing ❤️
