Background
Capella Singapore is a luxury resort tucked into 30 acres of lush rainforest on Sentosa Island. Designed by Foster + Partners and with interiors by Jaya Ibrahim, it blends colonial-era charm with contemporary elegance. The property includes heritage colonial buildings (Tanah Merah officers’ barracks from the 1880s) alongside modern villas, suites, garden residences, and manors.
Why It’s Worth Visiting
• The resort offers spacious and varied accommodations: from rooms and suites to garden villas with private plunge pools, and large Colonial Manors.
• Dining options are impressive: all-day Mediterranean fare at The Knolls, fine-dining Chinese cuisine at Cassia, a bar for sunset cocktails Bob’s Bar, and various lounges.
• The wellness facilities are exceptional: Auriga Spa is highly rated, with treatment suites, vitality pools, herbal steam rooms, and signature treatments inspired by natural and lunar cycles.
• Amenities include multiple pools (some cascading), private beaches, personalised service with “Capella Culturists,” complimentary resort activities, shuttle services, and thoughtful touches like afternoon tea in the heritage “Living Room.”
My Impression
Capella Singapore feels like stepping into a secluded sanctuary without giving up luxury or service. Waking up in a villa with a private plunge pool, surrounded by verdant rainforest, then ending the day with spa rituals and cocktails overlooking the South China Sea — it made the stay feel indulgent and restorative. It’s more than a hotel — it’s an immersive escape that makes you appreciate craftsmanship, nature, and thoughtful design all at once.
