While you marvel at its indoor waterfall, Rain Vortex, do drop by The Hainan Story for some local Hainanese food. Located at basement one of Jewel, this modern coffeeshop-styled restaurant is an interesting eatery to be in.

You can opt to read your menu via physical copy or online via scanning the QR code. The physical menu is presented akin to the good old newspapers. Order has to be placed online. There is a wide variety of food available and you will be spoilt for choices. There is collaboration from a few other hainanese names which is a great choice since you get to try the good names under one roof!

We tried the laksa and interestingly, the usual thick bee hoon were replaced by a thicker noodle which tasted like udon but a thinner version. For the kaya toast, the added gula melaka to the kaya tasted very one of a kind. The curry rice serving is very generous.

All the service staff are very friendly and attentive and we didn’t have to wait long for our food.
